Deep-sea manganese nodule

Manganese nodules are found amongst the sediment on the ocean floor in the abyssal zone these mineral concretions are formed from layers of manganese and iron oxides, as well as quantities of other minerals.  These nodules are some of the slowest growing geological formations known growing at a rate of around 1-4mm per million years.

These nodules come presented in gem jars.
