Xenesthis immanis is a large terrestrial theraphosid native to Colombia’s tropical forests. It inhabits humid lowland environments, where it constructs burrows or shelters beneath roots and debris. Adults display dark brown to black coloration with subtle iridescent tones and lighter banding on the legs. Primarily nocturnal, it is an ambush predator feeding on insects and small vertebrates. When threatened, it employs urticating setae and defensive posturing, relying on size and venom for deterrence.
