Sodalite is a tectosilicate mineral that gains its name from its sodium content, this mineral was first formally discovered in Greenland in 1811, since then large deposits have been found across the USA and smaller deposits throughout South America and some parts of Western Europe. Use of this mineral in trade by the Caral People has been traced back to 2000-2500BC.
